Finding our Inner Light During the Darkest Night of the Year

Come Celebrate the Winter Solstice at Hope Springs Institute and Serpent Mound, Hosted by Hope Springs Institute

Darkness. In our world of electric lights and automatic furnaces, the natural cycle of light-drenched summer days and long dark winter nights is almost an obsolete experience.

Nevertheless, our ancestral memory still yearns to celebrate the rebirth of light, when, after the longest darkest night of the year, the rising sun at dawn signifies the return of life and hope. Many of us also long to include nature's beauty in our holiday celebrations and its associated gifts of quietude and introspection.
